Vacation!

We are back from our vacation! Jason and I were actually able to go away without the boys -- it was our first vacation alone in 4 years. We dropped the boys off in NY with Grandma and Grandpa last Sunday and then on Monday, Jason and I headed to Newport, Rhode Island. On the way, we stopped for lunch in Mystic, CT and had lunch at Mystic Pizza. (for those of you who don't remember -- 1988 movie starring Julia Roberts)Yes, it really exists - there are pictures from the movie all over the walls. Very cute place.

Anyway, Newport was great. We visited 5 historic mansions (The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House, RoseCliff and Chataeu Sur Mer) and the Touro Synagoge (the oldest temple in the US).

The Breakers -- this was the largetst mansion (below)

This building( below) was a "playhouse" for the Vanderbuilt children

The Elms (below)

Jason and I were not the only one's who had a great week. Jacob and Joshua had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa and didn't seem to mind at all that mommy and daddy went away. They had a busy week playing in the kiddie pool, building castles out of boxes with grandpa and fighting dragons! Jacob even made a new friend, Matthew, who lives a few houses down from my parents. Matthew is also 4 and just like Jacob, loves fire trucks, yard work and tools! Jacob had lots of fun driving this battery-operated fire truck, as well as Matthew's motercycle and jeep! He is now an expert at 3-point turns and driving in revrese!
